As a half-demon master of the dark arts, Eve Levine isn’t what anyone would call angelic. That’s exactly why the Fates chose her for the job. She’s their secret weapon against the forces of evil.

However after five years, Eve is tired of being the designated rebel of the angel corps, expected to break the rules, then penalized for it. When the leaderless djinn stage an uprising, Eve sees the perfect chance to get herself fired. As she plunges deeper into the demon world, though, she realizes she’s in danger of losing a lot more than her job.

The first Kelley Armstrong novella published by Subterranean Press (978-1-59606-246-7), this is set in the “Woman in the Otherworld” universe. Published in hardback in December 2009,  as two separate editions – this has also subsequently been made available as an eBook download.

Trade edition – fully bound in green cloth with a full colour cover illustration by Maurizio Manzieri, this has a pretty small print run of just 2,500 copies. Also contains 4 number of black and white internal illustrations. There is just a single printing of this edition which is identified as such by the words ‘First Edition’ on the copyright page.

The Limited edition is fully bound in leather (colour?) and has a pretty small print run – just 200 copies (plus an unknown number of Publisher Copies marked ‘PC’), This edition shares the same cover artwork as the trade edition – unlike the later volumes in the series which have unique covers for the limited editions. Signed by the author on a special signature page. I don’t have any specific pictures of this edition as I haven’t come across this in the wild – or currently online.

Prior to the publication of the hardcover a small number of Advance Uncorrected Proof copies were produced. These were published in paperback and do not feature either the cover or internal illustrations of the other editions.

Due to the small print runs copies of the trade edition are uncommon – expect prices for an unsigned copy to be £120-£150. If you can find a copy of the limited edition then expect to pay 3-4 as much. The Proof copy when available should be in the same region (if not a bit cheaper) than the trade edition.
