The second volume in George R. R. Martin’s classic ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’. The first edition was published in the UK by Voyager in 1998 (ISBN:0-00-224585-X / 978-0-00-224585-2)., this preceded the US edition which was published the following year by Bantam.  Featuring a full colour cover illustration by Jim Burns unique to the UK edition, this is priced on the dust cover at £17.99. The printing state is indicating by a print line on the copyright page, with the 1st printing indicated by the full line: “1 3 5 7 9 8 6 4 2”, subsequent prints are indicated by the removal in order of numbers starting from the lowest. Be aware that there is a book club edition (BCA) of this available which shares the same art-work and (unusually) is also the same size – often online these book club editions are not differentiated from the Voyager edition.

As far as I am aware there have been just 2 printings made of this edition. Finding either printing is rare – with the 1st printing especially so. A true 1st printing is likely to be £200-£300 depending on the condition, with the 2nd printing reaching about £100. Even the book club edition has some value at approximately £50-£100.
