Becoming – Kelley Armstrong – Subterranean Press – Graphic Novella

Elena Michaels has just been bitten by her boyfriend, psycho werewolf Clay Danvers. As the werewolf curse is slowly taking over her body and mind, she clings to the last shreds of her humanity, scared that her life will never be the same again. As per readers’ request, finally the tale of Elena’s Bite. ‘Becoming’ covers the darkest part of Elena’s introduction to life as a werewolf, and fills in an important chapter in the Otherworld story.

The Otherworld, a series of novels written by Kelley Armstrong. Elena Michaels is the world’s only female werewolf. And she’s tired of it. Tired of a life spent hiding and protecting, a life where her most important job is hunting down rogue werewolves. Tired of a world that not only accepts the worst in her— her temper, her violence—but requires it. Worst of all, she realizes she’s growing content with that life, with being that person.

Full colour graphic novella from a story by Kelley Armstrong set in the ‘Women of the Otherworld’ series. Illustrated by Anilgram and published as a hardcover by Subterranean Press in August 2011. Provided in two separate editions:

A limited edition of 1000 copies, fully bound in cloth signed by both the artist and the author.

A lettered edition of 26 copies, leather-bound, housed in a separate slipcase. The proceeds of this edition went to charity.

Both editions are long sold out at the publisher – but the limited edition is still available online. Unlike the other Kelley Armstrong novellas published by Subterranean Press there is no unsigned, trade edition. As such the prices are higher than for the other novellas (such as Counterfeit Magic), but less than for the first novella (Angelic). Expect to pay £90-£100 for a fine copy of the limited edition. At this moment I can’t give a price for the lettered edition as a copy isn’t available online.

Counterfeit Magic – Kelley Armstrong – Subterranean Press

The first rule of a supernatural fight club? Don’t kill your opponent.

When the fighters come with lethal spells, werewolf strength and half-demon powers, that can be a lot tougher than it sounds. It’s hard to attract talent if they know they might not leave the ring alive. So when fighters at a California club start dying — it’s bad for business.

Witch detectives Paige Winterbourne and Savannah Levine take the case. Going undercover in the power-heavy arena of the fight club is a welcome change of pace for Paige, relegated to the role of The Wife as her husband struggles to find his place in his family’s Cabal–the corporate Mafia of the supernatural world.

As Paige is drawn deeper into new and dangerous corners of her world, she quickly discovers the greatest threat isn’t the killer in her sights. It’s something much, much closer to home. And this is one fight she can’t afford to lose.

The second Kelley Armstrong novella published by Subterranean Press – this follows on from the earlier volume ‘Angelic’. Set in the ‘Women of the Otherworld’ series and published in November 2010 in two separate editions. This was also subsequently made available as an eBook download.

Trade edition – fully bound in brown cloth, with a cover illustration by Maurizio Manzieri. In addition illustrated throughout with a number of black and white illustrations. There is just a single printing of this edition which is identified as such by the words ‘First Edition’ on the copyright page.

Limited edition of 1000 copies (plus an unknown number of publisher copies marked ‘PC’) signed by the author to a special signature page. Bound in black leather this volume is distinguished from the trade edition by a different cover illustration.

Both trade and limited editions are long sold out at the publisher and are becoming uncommon on the open market. Expect to pay up to £50 (depending on condition) for the trade edition. The limited edition fetches considerably more expect prices in excess of £90 dependent on condition.
